FAQs

Frequently asked questions about our chiropractic care

What will happen on my first visit?

At your first visit, we will discuss in detail the nature of your injury or pain, and your health goals, as well as determining any relevant information related to your general health.

Most importantly we will listen carefully to your concerns, as this allows us to provide a tailored solution that will support you in achieving your optimum wellbeing.

We will also undertake a physical exam, which may involve:

  • Checking movement quality and range
  • A hands-on investigation of the affected area
  • Reflex and muscle strength tests
  • Referral for x-rays if required
  • An adjustment using low-force techniques where required

It is very rare that you will have to remove any clothing.

What should I bring to my first appointment?
Just yourself, a list of any medication you are currently taking, and any previous x-rays, scans, reports or information on previous diagnoses and treatment if you have them.
How often will I need care?

We don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach, and we will never pressure you to attend a particular number of sessions. We’ll work with you to develop a treatment schedule that meets your needs and budget.

Some patients visit us for a short time to work through acute pain or a particular condition, while others visit us regularly for preventative care.

Will it hurt?
No. Low force treatment is gentle, yet effective. Our aim is to help you feel comfortable throughout the entire treatment.
How can my child benefit from chiropractic care?

We have experience in treating children from babies to teens. Symptoms we have helped our patients with include:

  • Scoliosis – We have chiropractors on staff who are experienced in working with scoliosis in children and adults.
  • Poor posture and slouching – During periods of rapid growth you may see your teenager slouching more. This is because the body is changing rapidly and there is thought to be some delay in the body’s self-awareness and postural control. Chiropractors can help to improve this. Chiropractic care can also increase strength, encouraging teens and younger children alike to be more active.
I work in an office – how can chiropractic benefit me?

Office workers often experience spinal and postural problems associated with sitting for too long. We can offer ergonomic advice and help with the discomfort of excessive sitting from transit to work or in the workplace itself.

I am a tradesperson – can you help me?
Yes. We see a lot of tradies for assistance with pain and injury prevention. Your body is your greatest asset, so treat it like you would treat your car or your tools and come and get a checkup!
I play a sport. How can chiropractic assist?

Whether you’re a weekend warrior or professional athlete, our chiropractors can help you achieve peak performance. Chiropractic improves strength, posture and awareness of body position, as well as assisting with injury prevention and injury management.

I want to age gracefully and safely. How can you help?

Later in life mobility and balance can become an issue. You might also feel sore from a lack of exercise, or have struggled to get back into exercise for a time after illness. Chiropractic has been shown to improve falls risk*, and we can get you happy to move again.

Can you work with my other healthcare providers?
Yes of course. We are happy to co-manage with your GP, physiotherapist, myotherapist, exercise physiologist or other healthcare provider.
Will I need x-rays?

Not always. We assess the need for x-rays individually depending on your condition. If x-rays are needed we can refer you to an x-ray clinic right next door.
